Your questions answered
Q. Will I need any previous fighting experience?
A. No. Our trainers are able to take a complete beginner and turn them into a fit and capable boxer within weeks, or you can follow your own training regime.
Q. Who will I fight?
A. You will be matched up with a fighter of similar ability, weight and age to ensure an even match.
Q. Can anybody fight?
A. With this being WCB we can only take people who have never fought before at any level. So, so long as you have no previous fight experience and we can match you our event is open to everyone.
Q. Do I have to spar?
A. We advise sparring with your potential opponent before fight night so we can work on your technique.
Q. What equipment do I need?
A. For our training session, you will need to provide:
- A full headguard
- Gum shield
- 16oz Gloves
- Skipping rope
- General training gear/clothing
For the fight night you will also need boxing boots, shorts and a vest.
Formal Fight Club will provide regulation headguards and gloves on the night.
Q. Do you offer any training?
A. You may take one-on-one sessions to start, with the option of training with the main Collyhurst Gym as your skill and confidence improves.
You may also choose to train in your own time if you wish. A programme can be provided to help you with this.
Q. What happens on the night?
A. The intinerary for fighters will be as follows:
- 8pm: Arrive at the Midland Hotel to change, prepare and warm up for the fight.
- 9pm - 11pm: Boxing card starts at 9pm. Bouts are 3 x 2 minute rounds. There is a 10 minute interval between each fight.
